PsoriasisDandruff is a common scalp condition caused by excess shedding of dead skin from the scalp. The scalp skin dies and flake off and gets accumulated with oil and dirt blocking the pores and causing itchiness and flaky dust on the scalp. If left untreated, dandruff can weaken the hair root and causes hair loss and hair thinning.
Ayurvedic treatment for dandruff and hair care therapy includes bringing in balance and harmony of two doshas Pitta and Vata. Aggravation of any of these doshas can result in accumulation of toxins and impurities in the deep tissues of scalp and pollute them causing itching and patches on scalp. To fight against the accumulation of toxins, the scalp skin sheds larger than normal amounts of dead scalp cells, which in turn leads to the formation of dandruff.
We believe in treating and identifying the root cause of dandruff and completely treating and removing the imbalance that causes dandruff. The treatment plan includes pacifying Pitta and Vata doshas through combination of herbal medicines, oils, massage, and a special diet plan and few lifestyle modifications.
Causes of Dandruff
Numerous factors can lead to formation of flaky dandruff on the scalp and these include:
- High intake of dry, cold, oily, spicy, and penetrating foods
- Hyperactivity of sweat glands
- Environmental factors such as dust and sunlight
- High use of cosmetic products including harsh soaps, shampoos and other styling agents
- Seasonal changes with high humidity
- Stress and anxiety
- Excess hair-conditioning and coloring
- Hormone imbalance
